try looking for it at the library. even if your local library doesn't have it, they may be part of an interlibrary loan service so you can get it from another library. Finally Awake just borrowed Crisis of Conscience from a library 150 miles from where we live.

Finally Awake's uncle became a witness because he met a witness girl who wouldn't date him unless he studied and got baptized. So he did, and they got married. They are still together 50 years later, and they are both still uber-witnesses as far as we can tell.

Are trustees also elders?

i am new to this board.

i have never really been in touch with jw until just recently and have a question:.

uk congregations: are the trustees at the same time elders and can a trustee or elder be inactive?.

In our former hall, one of the elders who was also a trustee got deleted from being an elder. Later on, he was also deleted as a trustee and a different elder was appointed to take his place. He's not disfellowshipped as far as I know, but he doesn't attend meetings anymore. So at least in the US at the present time, a trustee must be an elder and probably also is required to be active.

one thing that i have always noticed even when i was a jw is that the jw org has lots and lots and lots of rules for allsorts of stupid petty rules which make no difference.

when you read the bible you see how they are clearly in the wrong here and are acting like the pharisees themselves, who imposed so much pressure on others to conform to the law.

am i missing something here!?!?

So my take is by standing up to them an getting labled an apostate should be an honor because that means you are like christ.

am finishing darrell ray's book "the god virus - how religion infects our lives and culture.".

beliefs that do not appeal, are not compelling, die out because nobody cares about them to pass them on.. like an infection, these ideas are passed on from one person to another.

viruses that kill their host too quickly die out because there is a shorter time window to pass it on.. ebola, the earliest mutations of aids viruses, even plague kill their victims so quickly an outbreak soon passes.
